Within our guidelines, Wyoming CARES can assist in many areas, which are dependent on the situation.  Some examples include:

Medical Travel

Many Wyoming citizens travel for medical procedures.  We are able to help with reimbursement for gas.  Gas receipts should be kept in case further assistance is needed.

Accessibility Renovation

When circumstances dictate renovations to help accommodate medical needs, we can help with those renovations, or partner with other agencies for larger renovations.

Assistance in Purchasing Medical Equipment

We can help with the purchase of durable medical equipment, and often can partner with other agencies for larger purchases.

Non-Medical Needs Not Currently Met by the Community

When unforeseen events happen, such as house fires, Wyoming CARES is often able to help meet some of those needs.  This is determined on a case-by-case basis after reviewing the client’s application.  We do not duplicate services currently offered by other agencies.

We also partner with other agencies to complete funding for larger needs.

An application for assistance can be obtained by contacting our statewide office.  Each application must have a professional referral.  A professional who can refer can include, but is not limited to, school nurses, public health department staff, caseworkers, authorized staff at human service agencies, therapists, medical doctors, nurses, and emergency personnel.  In some instances, prescriptions from a medical doctor may be required for medical requests.

Focusing on the need, Wyoming CARES reviews each request on an individual basis, and assistance is determined by a volunteer review process.
